Events / Community Participation
Odds and Ends
Hello Neighbors! We just wanted to update you on a few ways you can participate in the community in the next week or so, from local neighborhood events to broader city initiatives. See below (and no April Fool’s here!). 🙂
Easter Egg Hunt!
A quick reminder about our Easter Egg Hunt in West Austin Park this Saturday, 9am on Saturday, April 4, 2026. If weather becomes an issue stay tuned for an email and/or Instagram post with details.
A few details:
— There’s no egg hunt without eggs! Please drop off stuffed eggs (no chocolate candies or confetti eggs please!) by Friday evening (April 3) on the front porch at 806 Blanco Street. Ideally 1 dozen for each kiddo.
— Volunteers are needed from 7:30-8:30am to hide eggs. It’s fun!
— OWANA will provide coffee and water. Please contribute breakfast treats (like pastries and fruit) to share if you can.
— Contact Renae Alsobrook for more info or to volunteer. 512-507-4780 or renaealsobrook@me.com.

City of Austin Budget Community Meetings
It’s that time of year where the City of Austin is looking for public input on next year’s budget. A community’s budget is a reflection of its priorities, so now is the time to make your voice heard on what you think the City should be prioritizing. A few upcoming meetings are listed below. If you’re unable to attend a meeting, you can also submit your comments here: https://publicinput.com/budgetfy2026

April is Million Mile Month!
Million Mile Month, founded by the Austin-based nonprofit HealthCode (and our OWANA Chair Steve Amos is CEO!), is a free virtual challenge to complete one million miles of physical activity, together as one global community, throughout the month of April. Click here to learn more and register. This effort is also part of Mayor Kirk Watsons GenATX program as well. Looking for additional ways to be healthy? Check out Valentiful, founded by neighborhood residents Leanne and Charlie, a seasonal cooking platform where you can discover what farmers near you are growing and get inspired to cook it.
