OWANA – Comment on Potential MoPac Expansion

Deadline is May 3

Comment on Proposed
MoPac South Expansion

We have mentioned this issue in previous meetings and in emails, but if you did not know, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is proposing to expand MoPac South to include new toll lanes south to Slaughter Lane. The project would also add flyover ramps near Barton Skyway and Bee Caves Road.

The deadline for public comments on the Draft Environmental Assessment of the proposed project’s impacts is May 3 by 11:59pm. This is one of the most important ways you can make your voice heard if you have concerns about this project. You can submit more than one comment—and please share this widely: socials, workplaces, family, friends, and your communities (running groups, paddling crews, trail runners, water lovers). A huge number of people still haven’t heard anything about this highway expansion. More information for your reference is below.

KUT recently reported on the proposed expansion (April 27, 2026)

Here is more information about the draft environmental assessment from CTRMA.

OWANA also encourages you to read through the information from the Better MoPac Coalition.

If you have concerns about the project, especially with regards to its impacts on environmental resources, you can use this comment form.

A heartfelt thank you to those of you that have already submitted a comment and/or attended a meeting! Your voice makes a difference!
