The December 2017 General Membership Meeting will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Mathews School Cafeteria (906 West Lynn at West 9th).
The December general membership meeting has a fairly short but important agenda: a report on the Flower Hill Foundation/Smoot House, residential permit parking on Winflo and Brownlee Circle, an annual budget for 2018, and bylaws changes. The November Steering Committee meeting will be held on November 6, 2017, at 7pm, at the Pauline Brown/Clarksville Neighborhood Center. Agenda items include the Treasurer’s Report and proposed budget, discussion of the Winflo/Brownlee Circle residential permit parking application, and a report from the Friends of West Austin Park. The October Steering Committee meeting will be held on October 2, 2017, at 7pm, at the Pauline Brown/Clarksville Neighborhood Center. At the September 5th general membership meeting, the Tuesday after Labor Day, Mayor Steve Adler will join us for a discussion on the city’s rewrite of the land development code, CodeNext. Also on the agenda, Denise Younger will present a proposal for a possible local historic district covering Pressler, Oakland, and Highland Streets, Sean Williams will present plans for Palma Plaza Park, and Rick Cofer will present a proposal for OWANA to support the Pease Park Conservancy. The OWANA Steering Committee wrote a letter expressing their strong support for Item 98, changing voting requirements at the Historic Landmark Commission from a two-thirds super majority to a simple majority.
The City Council will hear Item 98 at the September 28 meeting. If you have the time, please consider attending the meeting at City Hall and signing up to show your support or testify in favor of Item 98.
