The
City Council will hear the case for historic zoning for 1400 Lorrain on
Thursday, Dec. 1, (item Z-3). The Planning Commisssion recommended such
zoning but city staff disagreed. Please attend or e-mail or phone City

HOORAY! Our neighborhood was granted National Historic District
status by the National Park Service! We are the West Line Historic
District. Congratulations and thanks to all who worked on this giant

The
Clarkville Community Development Corporation will show a documentary WAL-MART:
The High Cost of Low Price on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3pm at the
Clarksville Community Center on W. 12th. This fundraiser for CCDC costs
$8 and there will be food by Cippolina. - 11/11/05
The proposed zoning change for Third Street Offices,
Ltd.at West 3rd Street and Bowie Street from DMU (Downtown Mixed Use)
to DMU-CURE (Central Urban Redevelopment Combining District) hearing
will be heard by the City Council on Thursday, November 3, 2005. The
meeting will be held at City Hall Council Chambers, 301 West 2nd Street
beginning at 4:00 pm.
Also at this city council meeting a public hearing
will be conducted on the following date to consider amendments
to the waiver of certain impact fees for affordable housing regulations
in Austin's Land Development Code, Title 25. The City Council will
consider and take action on these proposed amendments on Thursday,
November 3, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at 301 West 2nd Street, City Council
Chambers, Austin, Texas.

will be a City Council hearing on the proposed zoning change on
1706-1708 West 6th Street from SF-3-NP to NO (Neighborhood Office) MU
(Mixed Use) CO (Conditional Overlay) NP (Neighborhood Plan). 4:00 p.m.

Jean Stevens has graciously agreed to serve
as the new chair of the important Zoning Committee. She replaces Steve
Colburn, who has moved to Portland. Steve did an amazing job for a long
time on the committe and OWANA thanks him. Please welcome Jean and
consider volunteering a hour or two a week to this committee. Jean's

The rezoning case at the Lumberman’s tract at the
northeast corner of Cesar Chavez and Lamar, the Zoning and Platting
Commission hearing scheduled for Oct. 4 has been postponed. It will
probably be held on Nov. 1. - 10/4/05

Austin Parks Foundation is conducting an online survey
to help it focus where to spend its money. Help keep OWA's

The City Council
unanimously approved Historic status for 1805 Waterston on May 26,
2005. Two more readings will be needed for final status.
The State Historic Commission unanimously approved Historic District
status for our neighborhood. The proposal now goes to the U.S.
Department of the Interior, the final step in getting National Register
Historic District status.
